A midge emerger that traces its lineage back to a pattern called Roy's Biot Emerger.
Size 22.... Thread (dark Olive VEEVUS), wire and hackle.
I tie this pattern exclusively with a mole collar now, but I have had this Dark Dun Herbert Miner cape for a few months now and wanted to try it out.

Dubbing,
Simple and elegant,great job.
I believe that pattern was tied by Roy Palm, he had a fly shop near the Frying Pan River in Colorado. Roy was a great fly tyer. Roy passed away a little ago.

Lovely wee wet. Would you fish this as a point fly?
I have a couple of the Herbert Miner capes, and they are terrific. I don’t have this color though. (someday...)

Re: F-Roy variation
In a euro and drop shot set up this fly would be closest to the rod. In my indicator setup it would be in the middle of three flys. 12 to 18 inches below the attractor. Any "actual" true nymphs like a PT, Cased Caddis or midge larva would be below it.

Re: F-Roy variation
Glad I asked. I’d have done it all wrong.
