I hate it when I think I'm buying organic vegetables, and when I get home I discover they are just regular donuts.

Beautiful Carl.
Re: Old Master
Thanks guys. I don't like the color in this photo. The pattern is a little more subdued. I post to google+ then link here to display but I've noticed color changes in the photos when I do that. The body is definitly not that " blue".

Old/New Hat, Howdy;
Beautiful fly, could the color shift be due to reflection from the stone upon which it sits?

Nope, I can see the difference from the original to the version I upload to Google+.

Carl, I've come back to this several times, not with any comment of substance, just absolutely admirable. Such a beautiful combination. As a fly to stock...I would add a very fine wire counter rib, but this really is beautifully dun. (Ha! I usually shy from puns, you caught me at an odd moment. )

I agree about the wire cross rib. To retain a more traditional look, I have found a single thread tag twisted with the herl then ribbed is very durable.

Re: Old Master
What do you mean by "Heron substitute"? Is that the name of the material, or just a generic, "I substituted something for the heron the pattern called for"?
I wouldn't worry too much about the color shift. I doubt any of us have color tuned our monitors. The change could be from resampling when G+ resizes the image for its servers.
