In an effort to showcase a couple of the beautiful picric-dyed materials recently sent my way by Bob Kern (narcodog), I came up with a fanciful spider I'm calling Picric and Black for lack of a better name. If anyone knows of an historical pattern tied this way, I will be pleased to acknowledge it.

I can't hold back any longer.
Isn't it about time you learnt how to tie flies with at least some delicacy?
And how about some half decent photographs while you are at it?

Very nice, do you have a black torch for setting UV bug bond? If so pass it over the picric materials and note the change. 
If the original materials are from Lawrence (who incidentally has had his studio remodelled and no longer has to wait for his wife to leave the house to dye batch in the kitchen!
) they should take on a healthy "glow" under the torch.
With the light Mole dub and the hackle I imagine it would be a fine wee glowing spider.

These items I have had for sometime, I bought them from an Irishman off Ebay. He does not sell any longer. I contacted Lawrence and asked him if he had any mole and he said he did not. As a note I have asked him on several occasions to dye something for me and he did. He was also able to supply me with some material that is very HARD to find here, you'll have to use your imagination on that. Send him a note and he'll get back to you. I use his FB or his direct email, not through the forum.

Perhaps this would be a good time to insert an article Hans was kind enough to share with us back in 2010 regarding the use of picric acid. I'm sure this site has picked up some new member's since then that may or may not be aware of the precautions that should be taken with this material. http://globalflyfisher.com/staff/verhaa ... index.html
