Hook: light wire caddis hook #14
Hackle: Partridge
Abdomen: twisted antron yarn
Thorax: spun deer hair
This is a pattern I have tied for a few years, but I have just started tying them on the curved hooks and using antron for the body.
A little away from the norm for a spider pattern. The thorax helps keep it in the surface film in a little rougher water and gives it that swollen emerging wing profile thingy.

I hate it when I think I'm buying organic vegetables, and when I get home I discover they are just regular donuts.

Nice idea, I like the way you think.
I imagine this would lead to similar behaviour to the Pogo nymph and could be use as such- working behind a weighted fly so it would bounce and rise from the bottom water as it swung around in the current.
