Hi All;
Wow! I guess I was lucky, good to start my ebay pursuits so well this year. I think I was fortunate that three volumes were available at almost the same time.
Keep looking guys, another copy is bound to sell cheap if you watch ebay and save the search with automatic updates. That's how I got mine.
Good luck and happy hunting;

Damn.......you lucked up big time. i hadda pay $100 for my copy. Got it at the FFF International Conclave one year in Livington, Montana in a book sale the "the Museum" was having at the show. That museum is now defunct and no longer located in Livingston.............which is a real tradgedy. i spent a number of days in there going thru the entire place over and over........the fly plates were incredable. Now most of the things that were on display there, are over at the University in Bozeman and a couple other places. Real shame there isn't a single location that can get it all back on display. That museum was terriffic.......but alas......there just wasn't enough money to keep it alive. Apparently i got took paying that much for my copy.....but i only did it because the money was goin' to the museum........ ........HEY, the guy said it was extremely rare and hard to find.......

Mark,
You've got to watch the Ebay auctions carefully. I've seen copies of them on sale in the used book places, online, for more than $100. To think I paid $4.50, originally, for my first copy back in 1972. It was a 1971 edition, first printing of the re-issue with Hidy's added section on the flymph. Those were "golden days" in my fly fishing history.

Yes, as i understand it.....Leisenring wrote the first addition without Hiddy's contribution...........well, i would never have paid that much for it, if it weren't for the fact that the money was goin' to the now defunct museum.........i'm always a frickin' sucker for "the cause".............but that's nothin' to be ashamed of.............Misako understands/condons/tollerates it, and we have a crib FULL of way hip **** becauase of it..........hell, if she weren't a sucker for the cause as well.........i'da been in the street long ago...............rotflmao.

Hi All;
I'm really enjoying this book!
It amazing getting a peek at how Liesenring thought and how much he put into observations on the water.
I imagine he must have been fun to watch fishing but probably "schooled" most others on the stream, wouldn't
have wanted to compete with him until I was very experienced.
Hidy's comments and observations must have been right up there with Liesenring's
I'm feeling very lucky to have obtained this book for the price.
