A few days after tying my Woodcock and Orange viewtopic.php?f=6&t=10593 I went back to reading The Art of the Wet Fly and came across this fly. All I had to do was skip the tail and add some "very light dubbing of Hare's Ear fur".

Fogg described the hackle as coming from the inside of the wing while Pritt used the outside of the wing in North Country Flies. I had used the outside on my Woodcock and Orange, but I think the lighter brown inside feather would work quite well. As Fogg noted "...the Partridge and Orange is always a good standby."

I agree about the Partridge & Orange being a good standby.

The fly looks great and I think the inside wing was a great choice.

Quite lovely Bill! You are a high master at the touch dubbing technique! It looks very buggy and, at the same time, is pleasing to the eye!
