Carl ~ This beautiful pattern of yours would also work like a charm for the Eastern white mayfly hatch that blankets some streams and rivers nightly so heavily that it's like being in a blizzard of living creatures. Every fish in the Susquehanna River comes up to feast on these, and although most fly fishermen follow the hatch as it progresses up river in pursuit of smallmouth bass, even catfish are known to suck down flies. This is primarily a warm water phenomenon, but there is also a significant hatch of this insect on south central Pennsylvania's fabled Yellow Breeches Creek that turns the resident trout into less-than-normally-wary gluttons.

Killer flies posted here. I don't know if we have this type of insect here, but the patterns are gorgeous.
