 Funnily enough, that is exactly how i would refer to my mates who fished the reservoir with their flies for the stocked rainbow - early season especially, christmas tree decorations with hooks in them! But they'd fish the buggers on a sinking line, let it go right down (long way in this reservoir) and they'd get a fish.

Not my thing.

Later in the season, when the wild brownie population were coming up ijn the margins of a summer evening - different matter all together - and different flies! :D

Thankx Andrew.....actually, Satire on a Hook Shank, sounds like a good title for a novel.....a mystery novel..... :D :P    :o  ;) 8-) OH! and Andrew.....in this world, as in the music, there is no room for competition.....it's not about that. It's about tellin' "Your" story, "Your Way." Unless all you ever want is a hobby, you have to find your own voice. You have to make yourself indentifiable. That's the ultimate accomplishment.....then you have to find humility, without loosing your sense of humor. A very wise man once said, "there are no stars.....the music is the only star." Art Blakey. It's the same with this....."there are no stars.....the art, is the only star." i'm just a conduit for the message.

This is on an Alex Hayes hook. He lives in Michigan and makes them for me special order. i usually recieve a dozen to 30 at a time.....every few months. They have extremely long shanks and are quite huge. Most of the time i paint them all different colors, sometimes mixing colors together on the same hook.....BIG FUN! ;) That's Cockatoo crest feathers for the wing. :D The bead in this dressing is a silver/purple matallic.....KILLER Bead.

Another on an Alex Hayes hook. Tyed this at a show in Ellensberg, Washington (FFF Washington Council Conclave), and i was caught with no gut (that was adaquet), with me.....so i used a piece of the pink string that was holding the name card they give you to wear around your neck for an eye. :D    ;) Like i said, these puppies are improvised. 8-) The pic of this fly was taken at the FFF Inernational Conclave in West Yellowstone, Montana (borrowed vise, mine was already packed), this past Aug. by a friend who, with her husband, raises Pheasents, etc., etc., and from whom i buy skins once or twice a year. They live in Washington state. This was the first time i got to see them (and SCORE), twice in one year. :D If anyone wants their contact info.....lemme know. They've got GREAT skins for VERY fair prices. ;)

Probably the longest hook i've ever used and one of Alex's craziest hook designs. i used two beads in this dressing. ;)
