I am pleased they label the spools.....Although maybe, just maybe half of the mystique of Pearsalls is figuring out what you have, sort of like the thrill of the hunt.....

PICTURE this:
three aged, fisher/collector types(one of whom was me), digging through a large bin of recently acquired vintage fly materials, whilst the overlord (John Shaner) narrated to another party over the phone:
“WHOA” he commanded....”there is your spool of ASH, Dana”, as he swooped in to grab it.

We all admired the small wood spool, commenting on how perfect the color was.......

It is moments like these that make Pearsalls Silk legendary, not to mention having a good time with like minded friends..

We have already commented different screens and different lighting but this one looks close to my P6b.

I've followed this search for Sherry Spinner silk with interest, as I, too, have done some searching for the elusive item. Another forum member at one time suggested looking at Kimono Silk Thread as an option to the dwindling supplies of Pearsall's. So, after doing lots of careful comparison I've found that the Kimono Silk #370 is a good substitute for Pearsall's 6B. Take a look & see what you think!!

Thanks Ray - just one of those priceless times .......John was on the phone to someone else, narrating in VIVID detail each item as it was removed....

Hi driftless

Is your Kimono #370 color called teriyaki?
I get a few rod building supplies from Proof Fly Fishing and Matt carries a selection of
Kimono for $5.95/spool.

# 370 Teriyaki. Yes, that's it!! I got mine from Superior Threads, a 220 yard spool, forgot what I paid.

John, Phil has already dumped a bunch of wire on me. I don't want to be pushy
