The 7' and 8' blanks are assembled but wraps don't have enough coats of spar varnish - yet!

Thanks guys... the home made "jig" for rod wrapping has served me well in the past 15+ years. Also have a small "extension" of only one "V" to do the tip sections.

Thanks for the nice compliment. If you ever get the chance to fish with a bamboo fly rod, do it! Years ago, I started assembling bamboo fly rods (I buy the rod blanks and then assemble, thus I'm not a real bamboo "rod builder"), and discovered there's a real difference in feel when catching a fish on a can e rod. Some of my three fishing amigos / buddies thought I was crazy until I gave them a few of the rods I had.... one has totally switched to fishing cane rods and one of the otheres just started assembling his first cane rod (an 8ft. 2 piece / 2 tip 5 wgt rod, just like the longer rod in the above pic). Cheers

Very nice work Bob. A few years ago, I ran across a couple Sharpes blanks and helped one of the soldiers from the Project Healing Waters group put them together. I was considerably impressed with the cane work, especially the flat to flat thickness tolerances, which would have been impressive from a custom builder's shop, let alone a production rod company. Are these blanks still available commercially?

The varnish is now dry on the 7 1/2' - 4 / 5 wgt Sharpes blank but for some reason, I can't post a pic.
