Re: UV2 Dun
Makes a nice cousin to the Iron Blue Dun. I like it.
I hate it when I think I'm buying organic vegetables, and when I get home I discover they are just regular donuts.

Nice! I've been adding a bit of UV to flies of late. Can't really tell if my catch rate has gone up any though.

Re: UV2 Dun
Bill - I was studying your pattern yesterday, and my mind started to wander, thinking of other variations to the pattern. Specifically, I'd like to tye some of these with orange thread. I think the fly would also serve as an adaptive scud imitation. Sort of a "One Fly" adaptation.
Anyway, thank you for sharing the pattern and providing inspiration. Very nice pattern.

Re: UV2 Dun
Roadkill graced me with a set of these flies today. They'll be put to use on the Metolius tomorrow, with fishing report to follow. Thanks Bill, these are prettier in person that on the computer screen..
Re: UV2 Dun
Roadkill... the UV2 dun was a winner yesterday. My friend, who was a bit of a novice, hooked a juvenile bull trout on the fly. Just as I was preparing to take a quick photo, the fish made his escape, along with the fly...so you guys will just have to take my word for it... I only took the one version of the fly with me, as I was saving the others for my trip next week to Montana...they will find a place in the box for those rivers with Old Hat...
Re: UV2 Dun
I have been using UV materials for years. I am almost convinced it works. Sometimes. Maybe.
Re: UV2 Dun
Trifly,
I have been using UV fluorescent for decades on steelhead flies and even take a UV flashlight into shops to test materials to see if they actually are UV absorbing. I am still skeptical about UV2 reflective.
ronr,
As long as a native liked the fly it is a keeper. Have fun in Montana!!

I think that UV, like Fluoro, is a bit of a marketing piss take.....
