dd,
I have some red Ultra-wire, which i use and like a lot, but not on the PT nymph. I believe Frank Sawyer suggested using the copper wire from an electrical appliance, but i don't have the book in front of me at present. I have some from an electrical appliance that is lacquered green. it's quite fine, and I use it for ribbing my Black Gnat ala Leisenring. It strengthens the turkey tail "herl" I use for the body. I think the addition of a fine wire rib is often essential, but it also adds flash and a little extra weight to a fly.

Color is a funny thing. I can say RED or BLUE, and we immediately can see the color in our mind's eye, however your RED or BLUE will not be the same as mine. In addition, colors can affect in other ways than visually. Did you know if you were to enter a totally RED room--floors, walls ceiling, lighting and all decor is RED, your body temperature goes up, your pulse rate will increase as well. I know fish see color differently, but I often wonder if certain colors also affect fish in this manner. It's an interesting thought.

I heard that red can call up "agressive reactions"by humans like black can give"depressive reactions".
What will do a red and black combination then by men or fish?
That the collor red as first from all collors almost dissapears bij a depth of 9 feet( when do we fish at such a depth?) doesnt hold me from not using red.

Red mostly stands for "danger/toxic" in the animal kingdom, why are most predator fish attracted by red?
Lots of flies and lures have the collor red?
