Lucky day...Is it a Mink or a Weasel?

It's a constant battle keeping the critters out of the chicken coop and the house as well. I've got a beautiful Ermine in the freezer; the cat got him under the kitchen sink.

WOW Mike - that must be one tough cat you have ..... my cat is mean and nasty, but I don’t think she’d be able to kill an ermine.
Ermine is a stoat ( short tailed weasel ) in its white winter coat....... they are beyond vicious, and kill just for the sake of killing.

Soft and wet - the only way....

He's a tough customer this cat. I never would have given a cat a snowballs chance in hell of beating one either until I watched it happen. The fight while brief, sounded vicious. Our barn cats are fairly homicidal in nature; I won't turn my back on a couple of them. This one though has some semblance of manners as well as being the biggest one of the bunch. He's allowed inside from time to time (actually, whenever he wants now). Old farm houses are full of wonderful little nooks and crannies where all sorts of critters seek winter refuge.Theroe wrote: ↑Mon Mar 11, 2019 4:35 am WOW Mike - that must be one tough cat you have ..... my cat is mean and nasty, but I don’t think she’d be able to kill an ermine.

Mike, Howdy;
If you track his DNA you might find some MCC showing up.

Maine Coon was my first thought as well, Hank. Possibly a Norwegian Forest Cat. We have a resident ermine that likes our yard. My wife puts out bird feeders that draws a ton of birds and red squirrels. Everything listed is ermine snacks. We spotted him after he had changed to his winter colors, but we had no snow. Now we spot him when that little black tail tip moves across the snow.

I had a workmate who couldn't have guests. He had a mean cat who owned the whole family. This beast weighed 30lb and attacked visitors. The cat had followed him home from the forest, much smaller then.
