Re: YL1 vs Pearsall's Gossamer
I have used yli for years. I wrap my rods with it too, so it just seemed smart to try tying with it.

John - Hurry up and finish that work. You’ve got six more spool to test out...
Deadly little spider, btw.

ForumGhillie, Howdy;
John, you should know by that that doesn't matter, Ray has
an unsaitiatble hunger for Fly tying Porn. Reckon he figures
that you posted 6 spools, should get to see 6 flies, ... for
comparisons sake , ... of course , , .

Re: YL1 vs Pearsall's Gossamer
Since I'm starting to run low on certain colors of Pearsall's Gossamer, I have joined the search for a replacement. I tried the SemperFli True Silk, which was way to thick. The colors were close, at least to my 72 year old eyes, but lacked the sheen and finish of the Pearsall's. My assortment of YLI should be here in a few days. In the meantime, I'm going to split the SemperFli silk and try that.

Has anybody tried these? Myself, I haven't yet needed to, but haven't seen an opinion of this alternative so far.

I purchased a set and they seem fine. The only problem with them is they only come in a limited range of colours.
