Molasses Cake

Re: Molasses Cake
That's a beautifully tied fly. Not sure how I'd fish it but I could look at it all day. I've never heard of shoo fly pie, I had to look that one up. We're more of a poutine and ployes crowd up here; we eat a lot of warm biscuits slathered in molasses.

Oh man.. scrapple.... where I grew up in NC it was called liver mush... My dad was from Eastern PA so I knew what scrapple was but I loved it then and love it now... If I could only get the real deal out here in OR... you can buy a frozen brick of the stuff at the grocer, but its just not the same and never will be...

No need to pine away:

Don't overlook the Lebanon Bologna if you like smoked meats. It is a very long, slow smoking process that removes most of the fat. I have heard it claimed to be the lowest fat beef available. I don't know about that, but it is good.

Re: Molasses Cake
I'm curious. At least around here, all the IHOPs have scrapple as a side. (In fact, I had some for dinner last night.) Is that not true across the country?

redietz, Howdy;
Bob, wish it were but Scrapple is a "Local" delicacy found near the Pa. Dutch
areas. Same goes for Taylor's Pork Roll (I grew-up about 6 miles from them folks),
Used to joke with folks about Scrapple, when they ask what's in it I always
used to tell them everything they leave out of hot dogs. Generally they'd walk away,
just left more for me . I haven't had a Scrapple fix since 1995 when I moved to Ohio.

Yeah, I know Taylor pork roll has a limited distribution. It's even hard to find here in Maryland. I thought IHOP might have had a standardized menu throughout the country, though.

Re: Molasses Cake
Mike - It was originally designed as a dry fly for grqyling, but I think became more popular as a wet fly as I'm sure it didn't float well. You fish just like any other North Country Spider wet. It is also often tied as a palmer as well. I used it mostly on high elevation brookies.
Ronr - you may not be able to get scrapple but you should be able to find a damn tasty pumpkin scone!

I hate it when I think I'm buying organic vegetables, and when I get home I discover they are just regular donuts.

Boars Head distributes Taylor Pork Roll. I bought some in Montana.
