Angler's Club Bulletin Flymphs
Finished up photographing the Hidy flymphs I tied from the Angler's Club Bulletin, Vol. 53, No.3, Autumn, 1974.
There were 6 patterns published in this bulletin. The patterns did not list tails or (whisps) but the photos showed tails on each pattern except the Brown Hackle.
A big thanks goes out to Ray and William for helping me out with the ash silk and samples of suitable replacements.
Also, with a bit of embarrassment, I have lost/forgotten who sent me the hooks I used for these patterns. Nice round bend, forged, looped eye...I'm pretty sure it was someone on this forum.
Here is photo of the patterns and their recipes. Medium Hare's Ear Dark Hare's Ear

I hate it when I think I'm buying organic vegetables, and when I get home I discover they are just regular donuts.

Brown Hackle - edited: just realized the golden badger hackle color didn't really come through with the light in the photo. It is golden badger though.

Old/New Hat, Howdy;
Outstanding (not in the rain), looking flies!!!
As usual, your pix are some of the bestest.

Re: Angler's Club Bulletin Flymphs
Are you going to frame this set of flies? It would make a beautiful set, mounted around the old b/w bulletin image and patterns.
Good stuff Carl. Your attention to detail is admirable.
Cool hooks! Barbless up-eyes? Neat!

Re: Angler's Club Bulletin Flymphs
thank you Carl... I've got a lot of practicing to do and having these great examples to learn from is a big help.
Re: Angler's Club Bulletin Flymphs
Thanks everyone. I'm enjoying this endeavor. Sports Illustrated and Angler's Bulletin is finished. 2 more publications to go.
Yes Ray, I plan on mounting these. I have just enough hooks to do all the patterns. I don't know if I'll do a mount for each publication or mount them all together, but the idea of the pattern illustration with the flies would be cool.
