Bill,
You've really gotten the "Hidy Style" dialed in to a science. I'd swear you pulled this fly right out of Pete Hidy's fly wallet. You set a marvelous example. Thank you for sharing.
Do you have any tricks/tips, you'd like to share?
PS - The feathers from that Whiting Iron Dun cape have a lovely "glassy" quality to them. Really nice.

Beautiful example of a Hidy style flymph Bill.
I was just tying some Iron Blue Dun flymphs as published in the Angler's Club Bulletin today.
Those called for starling hackle. No distinction to what feather from the starling. The drawing shows a tail as well but no hackle is listed for the tail. I need to find out if it was starling as well for the tail or...

I hate it when I think I'm buying organic vegetables, and when I get home I discover they are just regular donuts.

Wow Bill!
I simply like what Ray said (sorry Ray!) because he said it so well! Your style is unmistakable as you create a beautiful representation of this great insect! I don't know how you pull this off but, we are glad that you do and the results are amazing!
What's next on the docket my friend? Your choice of patterns to do is as equally impressive as your tying abilities!
From the Den,
Doug
I forgot to mention just how deadly this pattern is on my local spotties! It is one of a core of patterns that the fish do not seem to tire of!

Fish when you can, not when you should! Anything short of this is just a disaster.
