That pattern was created by one of the guys at Blue Ribbon Flies, if I’m not mistaken.

John,
I know that fly as a Shakey Beeley (not Bealy). My understanding is that it was developed by Nick Nicklas of Blue Ribbon Flies in West Yellowstone.

You do have October caddis in the Midwest. My observations are that the brighter patterns seem to be more widely used/accepted out west. I always did well with patterns that leaned a bit toward the attractor range in color.

I tied several of these a few weeks ago but have yet to fish them...Then again, I haven't had much chance this season to fish much of anything.

In the North Central part of Pennsylvania on Pine Creek, for some reason this fly always produces.

I was never a fan of the flies color composition but, it works... can't argue with success!

Joaniebo - Those are excellent variations. I'm digging your abdomen dubbing color.
