Re: Woodie Upper and #5 Yellow
Bill, that's a beautiful combo with the duck and the yellow. Is there a touch of wax on the body silk? It's a pretty rich shade, which begs the question about the quality of the silk in more contemporary spools. I've always noted the shade shifts over the years but never noticed a shift in the luster of the silk. You've put together a killer little sulphur.

Thanks, W. Yes, there is a little wax on the silk, but not very much. I tried to heavily wax some of the #5, but didn't like the result.

Bill, I suspected it was a slight amount and just enough to give that silk a very natural impression.

Very nice Bill.
I sometimes wonder whether wax should be used on these beautifully coloured silks.
Your tie shows they still work well.

How hard can it be?

A gorgeous tie Bill. Your attention to detail is well displayed. The combination of materials just a perfect fit.
I have an immature wood duck skin but I've never really played with it much. It is a beautiful skin. I've used some small flank feathers for wings but that is about all. I had two but acquired my golden plover skin with a trade of one of them.

I hate it when I think I'm buying organic vegetables, and when I get home I discover they are just regular donuts.

Golden plover skin for an immature wood duck? Who'd part with golden plover?
Sounds to me like a New Zealand colonial deal, your 240,000 acres for these 2 muskets .

Really like that shade of yellow -- & love that hook. Simply elegant tie.
