Hook - Partridge Czech Nymph Hook (Size 6 - formerly 12)
Thread - 6/0 UNI-Thread (Black)
Tag/Rib - Fine Stainless Steel Wire (Silver)
Tag/Underbody - Narrow Mylar Tinsel (Silver)
Abdomen - Kreinik Soie Platte Silk (#2244/Golden Brown)
Wingcase/Vee Flash - Two strands of narrow Mirage mylar tinsel (Opal/lateral scale crinkle)
Throrax - Five or Six Strands of Peacock Herl (reinforced in a thread dubbing loop)
Hackle - India Hen (Black and Copper)





Here is the India Hen cape I used to tye this fly. The body color is intended to compliment the rich color of the banding in the hackle.

Beautiful fly. Truly.
Question, ... when you posted the recipe you stated;
"Hook - Partridge Czech Nymph Hook (Size 6 - formerly 12)", so, what does it relate to
for those of us without the hook in front of us with nothing to compare it to? Is it close to
say, a Mustad R50 size 14 or R50 size 6 ???

It's a lousy photo (rushing with my ipad), but this may give you a sense of scale for the fly. End-to-end, the fly is just under the diameter of a US penny.


Hank - The sizes are called out on the hook package the same way. Clear as mud, huh?! Ya gotta love a hook scale where a size 12 (old) = size 6 (new).

Thanks Jerry - Too pretty to fish? Nah. If this had been in my fly box last weekend, I'd have fished it in several places. The heavy hook and slender profile are ideal for fishing a little deeper in the pools and pocket water. The fly will naturally rise to the surface, as drag straightens the line at the end of a drift...I'm confident it would work. It would look better with a trout hanging off it.

That's a real beauty, Ray. Just enough flash to catch the attention of the fish, and a natural blend of body and hackle colors. Should be an awesome Tenkara fly.

Thanks Bill. I was just studying the flies construction, and imagining how to make it a tenkara style kebari pattern. As always, you are one step ahead.
