Black and Copper India Hen Neck

I went to our local Cabela's earlier today. While looking thru the materials in their fly tying section, I came across a gorgeous India Hen Neck. I've never seen one with such striking black and coppery brown markings. The feathers have a light creamy strip near the stem, then copper bands, then a black band and finally copper colored tips. It almost looks like a cross between an Indian hen and one of the black laced chickens. What a beautiful neck.

That's s beautiful skin. Amazing rich color. I can imagine this hackle leading the charge ahead of a longer peacock herl body. A deadly combo. Nice find.

This is one gorgeous hen neck! I have purchased a bunch of these at our local Cabelas and I have never seen one this striking. If I had, I would have snatched it up and been asking for more! I am always on the scout for the ones that are a hazy, orange color (natural, not dyed) well marked if poss. These are a rarity as well. I like them for the Dave Whitlock Red Fox Squirrel Hair Nymphs and wets that I crank out on occasion! Maybe we should have a hen neck/saddle swap!
A beautiful piece of real estate Ray and it is no mistake that it wound up in your hands! You will do most excellent with it as time goes on! If you go back and they have a master case of these for sale, buy them! You will have no trouble getting rid of them here on the forum. I will buy six of them myself!
