is a great pattern, Carl, and it has appeared on this Forum a couple of times if I recall correctly, including one tied by you. However, it has neither spaced rearward hackle wraps nor a conical head, and thus, sadly, does qualify as a "splymph"
.
I think you are confusing "tying style with tying design"
If that isn't the case, then crap, I don't think I have ever tied a flymph.

tye2fish, Howdy;
Haven't replied to this creation of yours due to the fact that I have been in complete awe.
Beautifully put together and photoed as well.

"Confused" suits me well.

Bill,
This pattern is so cool and so "insect-y" and, as the others have said, the twisted method of body making is out of this world! The pattern is just amazing Bill as is all the collective work from your talented hands! I am glad to see that you have sprung a new word into our vocabulary...Splymph! I think you are on to something! When you put forth new ideas and concepts, it is life changing for us and the entire fly tying and fly fishing world! Full steam ahead Bill!
Excellent work my friend,
Doug

Beaut of a fly Bill as usual! But without a little dubbing I still have to call it a Spymph.
