One of my fav numfs ;)
I've caught trout all over the world with these and wouldn't be caught without a few dozen on any stream. The old hares ear nymph or as my NZ'der mates call it hares ear numf
I experimented with the ribbing and subbed the usual dark copper wire I use with Semperli Glint Nymph in Rust. It's a fine flat plaited tinsel that has a nice variegated effect when it's twisted into a tight rope. This is a short shank stout curved TMC 2499Spbl in a 14 which should give an idea of how fine/subtle the flash is...

Yeah, nah, looks like it would do the buznuz.
Everything a nymph of this type should be- a mess on a hook with some subtle flash of ribbing.
Typical bit of Aussie over the top extravagance with the wingcase/legs and hackle fibres for a tail........ but it should still work.

Nufink fancy here bro, jus keep it simple as fush & chups.
Jus tie two materials wif copper wire and Hare fur.
You do realise it is only those common North Islanders that talk like that eh?

Karsten, that is just super hairy. And some killer pics. This ruffian would kill on waters I haunt. Beautiful. Looks just like our east coast March brown nymphs.
