Straggle nymphs

Here are some nymphs that I fish the last months. The main material is Straggle and they call it also Fuzzy Bug.

Good on you for posting these here, only thing traditional with most of them is the thread and shape of the hook..... but they still catch fish!
They will not be everyone's "cup of tea", but I like them.
Are you fishing them in the Canal's close to your home?

I always say to my fellow fly fishers: It is not the fly that catches the fish but the man/woman that has the rod in his/here hand.

We do catch Roach and Rudd and Perch with these nymphs and all in our canals. Perhaps a fly fisher anywhere else in the world could try them and I would like it to read about it.

We catch all kind of fish of the not running waters: Roach, Rudd, Perch, Bream and sometimes Pike.

Here are the hooks that I used to ty these nymphs:

1: Hayabusha 390 #14
2: Kamasan B175 #12
3: jighook #12
4: Emergerhook #12
5: Kamasan B800 #14

I use them all for the species higher on this mail.



Here is a picture of my arm and hand with a 25cm Rudd. I fished with a little nymph with my splitcane # 4 and my silk line with a leader of two meter and one nymph on the point and a little shrimp on the dropper.

Excellent post, Ruard. We always enjoy seeing and hearing about your interesting tying and fishing adventures. The fish you usually catch are variably known as "warm water" species and "pan fish" (I suppose because they have historically been fried in a pan for food) in the USA, and I am certain that your imaginative and colorful flies would serve well to fool these same types of fish the world over. Some of the flies you have shown us here might also be effective for brook trout and rainbow trout, which are often attracted to bright, shiny flies. Thank you for sharing.

Oh, I would try them! Of that have no fear! Trouble is I think I would have to import the straggle?
That and do a road trip. As Bill pointed out above, they would be great Rainbow trout food and I do not have any of those at my doorstep.
Ideal trial spot, the outlet of Lake Tekapo!

Excellent photo's and flies! If I could simply repeat what Bill has said because he says it so well! I hope to visit you and all the canals and ponds and slow waters someday. How wonderful it would be to have you show me around gorgeous Holland! Can I bring everyone on the forum?
