Just received a new rod - all psyched up!
Well, to be truthful there are a couple of fibs in the subject line (which I will clarify), but it did manage to draw you in for look, didn't it?
Ok, let me try again.
During a get-together at the Delaware River Club, in the summer of 2002, I had a play with a one of a kind 4-piece rod. Just came across the snaps and decided to share for a chuckle or two, even if the activity was serious enough.
Examining the 4-piece Broomrod. Hmmmm.... I wonder whether this 4pc version is any stiffer than that 2pc I was eyeing only last week...
Hmmm.... it does load nicely
Generate some line speed - maintain loop control
Setting up for delivery cast
Shooting line
There we go - right on the nail
Cheers,
Hans W

Hans,
I know a guy who has a rod just like that. Drags it out at all the FAOL Fish-Ins. Did you cast the 6 or 8 weight rod?

Ron,
This was the 8wt. The 6wt broom really was way too wimpy...
Narco,
Thanks
It is actually quite interesting and educational - and clearly divides the casters into two distinct camps. Either one can form a decent loop and generate line speed in spite of the rod, or one cannot. The second group hits a ceiling at 40-45' distance. The first group jumps to 75' and up. There is no middle ground.
Cheers,
Hans

It is a great teaching tool. Jc uses his to improve peoples double haul technniques. Your right, you can either cast the rod well or not.

Fish when you can, not when you should! Anything short of this is just a disaster.

I can see this rod requires a very sweeping action to cast out the line. I am surprised it does not come with an accompanying mop rod to clean out everything in the river.
