Thank you wsbailey for the link to the article of Rob Smith.
I tied the seven flies and here are the pictures. All the flies are on Kamasan B175 #12 hooks and when I did not have the proper materials I substitute them.
Black Magic:
Winter Brown:
March Brown:
Waterhen Bloa
Orange Partridge
July Dun:
Yorkshire Greenwell (skipped the wing):
Perhaps I can do something good with these seven next week in Scotland.
greeting
Ruard

Nicely done, Ruard. Those beauties should serve you well.

I'd be willing to bet those flies would cover what you're chasing

Ruard, Howdy;
Beautiful flies, are you using them to stock up your fly box
for your Summer trip?

Lovely set of flies Ruard, and beautifully photographed too. The background makes one want to go fishing.
Have fun on your trip. Take a few drifts for me please.

Hi Hank and Ray,
I shall try these when I am in Norway for the Grayling. It is possible to catch there Grayling up to 20 inch.
Shall try to catch them even if they are smaller than 20 inch on my 7,5 ft splitcane #5.

Split cane and vintage looking fly patterns fished to 20" Grayling. What could be better?
Great looking set Ruard, sure not to let you down.

Ruard, I love seeing this set. It's a group that ought to do very well. Enjoy your trip and take lots of pics. That July Dun is my favorite if required to choose one. Very nicely done, as usual.

Re: Seven flies of Rob Smith
Ruard, be prepared to catch a 26 inch grayling in Norway. It might happen. Carl A. - who built my rod - caught a 25+ incher here in Sweden. Norwegian grayling can be that big too. I saw a school of large grayling in River Kaitum. I was able to get one of them on a size 18 Red Tag. This was not the largest one but just above 20 inch (or just below). One of the other fish was probably around 24 inch. It was huge compared to the one I caught.
MC would probably recommend that you bring some size 6-8 green Woolly Buggers. The larger fish usually stay deep. I haven't tried that method yet.
