P-p-pardon me sir, but that looks p-p-perfect!

Damn those are nice. On that bronzed hook? Beautiful.
Go catch some troots on those.

Thanks Bill and Eric.
Eric, the hook is the Mustad 3399 size 10. I have had these hooks for many moons. I do not know if it is even manufactured any more. It is the bottom hook in the photo. The hook above it is the Mustad 3906B size 12. I asked a few people over the years why this model (3399) was so dark. I do not remember getting a reason. It has been my go to size and model for Peacock and Partridge for a few years now.
Yeah, I tie Soft Hackles on short hooks.

Re: The Three P's
Mustad still makes a 3399A wetfly hook. It has a smaller barb than the old style 3399A.
Re: The Three P's
I love old Mustad 's, they're becoming increasingly difficult to find now. And pricey! But yea, that's a nice hook for that pattern and many others too.DUBBN wrote:Thanks Bill and Eric.

Re: The Three P's
Wayne I could go on and on. This is really beautiful and for your water a#10 might be the ticket. The profile certainly works and incorporating your favorite color member hurts =). This has a certain letumgo look about it which is a very high compliment. I love the direction you've taken your pics. I really have to reevaluate what I'm doing. It's very special.
On a contrary note...in my opinion once you've exceeded a #12 hook, no one can call the shank short. =) that's a lot of real estate to work with. =) this seems the right choice for this pattern regardless.

Not a whole lot I can add to the previous comments, but DANG!, that's a pretty fly.
And wonderful job on the hackle. A real keeper.

Wow! Peacock partridge and purple... the fly pattern trifecta! Nice work.
Love the hooks. Those two you show are still my favorites today. Even if they have changed slightly. I always did like the deep color of the older Mustads.

I hate it when I think I'm buying organic vegetables, and when I get home I discover they are just regular donuts.
