No, but I do make a 2 to 3 wrap tag from the wire before wrapping it through the fly.

That is something I have been doing with all of my wire ribbed flies, even those with tails. I like the idea of the wink of something shiny at the back of the fly.

Me too. The wraps help form a small tag and hole the body in place (silk bodies). I do the same thing with streamers...
