That is something I have been doing with all of my wire ribbed flies, even those with tails. I like the idea of the wink of something shiny at the back of the fly.

Me too. The wraps help form a small tag and hole the body in place (silk bodies). I do the same thing with streamers...

I use that technique as well, on many fly patterns.
I hate it when I think I'm buying organic vegetables, and when I get home I discover they are just regular donuts.
