Re: Culloden
Xavier,
Go for it!
Does the name I gave the pattern mean anything to you? If not you may want to read up on the (battle of) Culloden.
The color combination I incorporated into this pattern will make clear sense.
Cheers,
Hans W

Re: Culloden
You should send this to Alice as well. I think she would dig it.

Re: Culloden
Hans, I think this painting representing the battle will perfectly represent your pattern
One question, what can I use instead of seal??

Re: Culloden
Yes Xavier, that painting captures it well enough.
There are several seal substitutes, some natural and some synthetic. One of the better ones, and widely available, would be angora goat.
Cheers,
Hans W

Re: Culloden
Hans,
I like the claret/orange dubbing blend--I'm going to introduce that into some of my spey patterns. Fran's contribution to the last swap used a red "popper" feather too didn't it? It's really quite striking. You've put together an excellent fly.

Re: Culloden
"Like i told you before upon Culloden moor
Where the brave Highland army was killed.
Prince Charlie Stuart was my true love's name
and he was the flower of England and a pride to his name.
ah but now they have banished him over to Spain
and so dear was my Charlie to me." -- Steeleye Span
To the king! (as he carefully hold his whisky over a glass of water)

Re: Culloden
This fly screams to be fished. It has great style and eye appeal. Nice work, Hans.
