Claret & Purple Starling
Hook - Daiichi Model 1510/Size 12
Hook shank painted white with Sally Hansen Xtremewear Nail Polish (Color 21 - White Out). Hook allowed to dry completely before tying the fly.
Thread - Pearsall's Gossamer Silk (Purple)
Hackle - Starling (Natural)
Thorax - Mole Dubbing (Claret)

I like the photo and the flies! The shadows look great and really give it life. Nice shot. Those flies look deadly too.
Is that natural light?

Yes, natural sunlight. The sun was setting as I finished the flies and the light was streaming across my bedroom. I grabbed the flies and set them in the sunlight and snapped a couple pictures (with and without a flash). I liked the photo without a flash the best.

Natural light is almost always better, great image.
