Flymph Style October Caddis
Inspired in part by Ray Tucker's recent Honeybear pattern and in part by the desire to have something new to offer up to Beaverkill/Willowemoc area trout come Troutoberfest in a few weeks, I came up with this.
Hook: Daiichi 1530, Size #12
Thread" Pearsall's Gossamer #9, Hot Orange
Hackle: Honey dun hen saddle
Tag/rib: Ty-Master fine gold wire
Body: Blend of orange and yellow wool yarns with red fox fur, spun in Gudebrod orange silk on Clark block

NICE! Now THAT is how it's done!
Great flymph. I look forward to taking some of these for a test swim next month.

Hi Bill,
Very good fly. At least my Dad thought so. He tied a lot of them, but with a slightly more prominent rib. Some had a paler hackle, but this seems to be right on the money.

Awesome pattern Bill! You are going to knock'm stiff with this one! Take scads of pictures if you can! Meanwhile, I will try and duplicate a couple of these and try them on my resident blue-gators!
Bill, I don't know how you do it but the end results sure look good!
Always amazed with your patterns,
Pal Doug

Fish when you can, not when you should! Anything short of this is just a disaster.

Hi Bill,
That is a beauty. Love the tinsel.
Here are some vintage examples, with wire that has darkened with age.
