Ray, Howdy;
I've been remiss in not congratulating you on such a well crafted and photographed fly.
It is an enticing morsel without doubt.
Can ya tell I've been watching the Roosevelts on PBS ???

Striking Ray. What size of this style would you use if you you were after steelhead?
I hate it when I think I'm buying organic vegetables, and when I get home I discover they are just regular donuts.

Carl - I like using hooks in the 6, 8 and 10 size range. I've been know to go up to size 2, but will likely start with the smaller sizes first.

Ray,
Oh to be in your playpen (tying room) when you are just "playing around"! A most excellent pattern Ray! I like it alot! Now, for the immitation phase of my tying! Wait, I am always stuck in this phase....but I love it!
With very little original stuff to contribute,
Doug

Fish when you can, not when you should! Anything short of this is just a disaster.

Re: Honeybear orange
Ray, when I first saw this the NZ yarn jumped out but I also noted that while this shows your particular overall markings, it's density and proportion reminds me of a Libertone pattern. Not any pattern in particular, maybe just an impression. It's a nice fly for sure. I need two hen capes by this last round of flies shown. This tan/honey you and Bill make such nice use of, and a creamy white used by Eric for somegorgeous "PA white flies" hatching on the breeches last month. Hard to believe there are gaps in my supplies.

Nice, zen, October caddis. On an OC binge & like. Should work well on sea-run cutts & steelhead right now.
