Hi Ray, what is the recipe for your Honeybear and what water will you use it in? Depth and velocity -
How hard can it be?

Re: Honeybear orange
Tim - I was adding the recipe when you posted. I will fish this soon (hopefully). The water is currently flowing low and clear. Hopefully we get some rain soon, to bring in the fall steelhead.

Re: Honeybear orange
Very nice and tidy work Ray.
Not far removed from my own main variation of Mark L's Lil Dorothy, same orange yarn and near same hackle colour- different thorax and a hook size or two above what I normally tie.
Are you going to try for some Steelhead this fall with it?

Re: Honeybear orange
Really, really nice, Ray ... a soft hackle October caddis perhaps? Bring a few to Troutoberfest, OK?

Re: Honeybear orange
A very interesting fly.
In larger hooks it might be a worthwhile steelhead/sea-trout fly.

Top shelf as always. Well done sir.

That is a spectacular fly Ray. Nice choice on the saddle, love that color.

Re: Honeybear orange
Bill & Donald - Thanks for the additional ideas. I find it fun to play with a theme, and change it up. I liked both ideas. I've already tyed a smaller version, on a curve shank TUE hook, to serve as an orange caddis imitation. I then tyed a large steelhead fly, but got distracted by some new rubberbands I had on my tying desk. The rubberband ended up getting substituted for the orange wool yarn, and the hackle got swapped out with woodduck (folded and wrapped as a pseudo spey collar).
Just having fun.
