Thanks, Wayne. It'll be nearly two months yet before we see any March Browns out here. Bob, the hackle from the saddle of a Cree hen set from Bob's Hackle Farm, and the tail whisks are bronze mallard.

Every one of your flies in this series, Bill, displays high style at every point where a decision had to be made.
Hackle length, dubbing texture, length and tapering of the body, shape of the head, size and coloring of tailing material.
It takes much practice to pull this off over and over again.

That's Cree? Maybe the flash muted the colors but I thought cree was three colors on one barb?
What size & type hook did you use?

Thanks to all. Wayne, I have two Cree hen sets, and the capes of both have the barred tri-color pattern that we associate with the term Cree. The saddles, however, are quite different, with much less color distinction, and -- in the case of the Collins set -- not even the same colors as the capes. This hackle is from a Bob's Hackle Farm set, and does have more orange/tan near the tips than the camera picked up.

Superb creations from your den as always! If I may condense everyone elses comments into one and simply say Super-Fantastic!! I can't wait to see these beauties locked into the scissors of some Catskill browns or your local residents on the Gunpowder Falls River!
