Thank you to the folks who added more info on these hackles. I appreciate it, and have been reading it all, with great interest.
Re: Dark Special
Nearly all of the Light Furnace/Furnace/Golden Badger/Greenwell hen skins I have purchased over the years have come from the Collins Hackle Farm, and the cardboard backings to which they are attached are clearly marked in Charlie Collins' handwriting as being "Greenwell". I figure if the guy who raises the birds calls them "Greenwell", that's good enough for me.

Great discussion everyone. I am enjoying this very much. Not sure if I am more confused than when it started but its all good.
I hate it when I think I'm buying organic vegetables, and when I get home I discover they are just regular donuts.

I'm enjoying the discussion, too. When I bought a Greenwell's hackle, I called it that because that's what the seller called it. It looked a lot like a furnace hackle to me, but what do I know?
Re: Dark Special
The hen I spoke of previously was a Collins hen. Great Feathers called it a Greenwell.
