Hi Mike,

The pattern is a bit of a crossover - with roots in the Irish and Scottish 'bob' flies, and a few drops of spey.

It fishes well as the top fly of a team on lakes, skimming the waves. On slow moving water best fished deep and short strips/pauses.

Yes, trout - mainly browns on lakes, and browns/rainbows/brook&cutts in rivers.

Cheers,

Since we're bringing back some of Hans' masterful flies, this one is my all-time favorite of his stellar work.

Hans,

Did you dye the entire JC neck, or just a sampling of eyes? Very interesting look, and they would look good on steelhead patterns.

Nice work, as always, sir!

Best,

Tim,

Small patch holding the tiny nails removed from the JC cape, then dyed.

When I first saw this pattern, my initial thought was "good lord, that fly would create an amazing target stripped through softer water." Yup I'm looking at it again and actually have a spot in mind. Very attractive.
