Soft Hackle Green Butt

This is something I came up with a few weeks before the end of the season,Oct1, it worked real well.



Its on a size 6 Daiicci 2220, I called it a soft hackle streamer. I'm not so sure what constitutes a Streamer.

Tim, Welcome and thanks for sharing your flies. These are a couple of really nice one's. I can especially understand how this HE Soft-Hackle is one of your favorites. I'm curious to hear where you like to fish and how. It always helps to put the flies in context and I can see where you're coming from. Beautiful ties, and again, a warm welcome.

Those are both beautiful -- the hackling style reminds me of another member's work, one who also sports an ursine handle. I'll bet these patterns attract landlocks extremely well.

Hi William, We had an extremely wet year up here, I really couldn't fish my usual local river so I spent most of the summer on a small stream, early in the year I fished that HE with a small glass bead soft Hackle behind, cast down and across. I've really never had such a good year with soft hackles, it must have been all that high water.

I did really well in the fall with that Green Butt on the Landlocks.

Ha, as Bill (tie2fish) alluded, these really caught my eye--the North Country traditionalists give me a little grief over getting a little exuberant with the hackle sometimes. Any chance you could share the pattern for the Green Butt?

At any rate, that's great looking country--it must be a thrill to take a landlock out those waters, though no doubt the Maine Tourist Board appreciates you Photoshoping out the clouds of mosquitos.

Very nice Tim. The Green-Butt appears as a very nice pattern. I use the green-butt idea quite a bit on patterns I tie. It always seems to add that little extra strike incentive.

The HE is very nicely done and perfect for the water you are fishing it seems.
