Dutch Kebari

Old Hat you inspired me ones-more with your Kebari-flies. Finally I bought a tenkara rod here in Holland: a 5:5 with a length of 3.90 meter, that is about 13 ft. A very soft rod but nice to catch little fish. I fished it only with a nimf and with one wingless wet.

Yesterday I tied a Tenkara fly and the name will be:

Dutch Tenkara ( if that name does not exist already??)



Hook: Mustad 1575 #11
Thread: Danville orange
Dubbing just behind the eye: hare
Hackle: Hen saddle very light dun
Body: Pheasanttail olive

This pattern reflects well on the inspiration you received from Old Hat, Ruard. I especially like the taper you achieved on the body, and the hackle is -- based on things I have read -- perfectly lush for a Kebari fly. Well done!

This is an super tie. The colors, profile and all. I also like the dubbing at the head. Nice touch. I'm going to have to experiment with that.

Years ago I tied a fly The Funneldun from Neil Patterson. I used the dubbing on the head with that fly also to keep the hackle in the good position.

Good thinking. I still tie and carry a few funnel duns. They make a nice Tenkara dry fly pattern dipped on the surface.
