Pearsall'sColors to start

Curious what colors of Pearsall's Gossamer Thread would be a good start for tying fishing wets. Perhaps Primrose Yellow, Orange and ?
Often I have been exhausted on trout streams, uncomfortable, wet, cold, brier scarred, sunburned, mosquito bitten, but never, with a fly rod in my hand have I been in a place that was less than beautiful.

Purple, green, claret. At least they're colors I use the most.

I use the brown a lot too, well waxed for black spiders.

Jasper and Gray are two good ones. Jim Slattery had put together a basic package of silk that is very helpful. www.jimsflyco.com.

I also like Jasper, and I use classic chestnut a lot. http://greatfeathers.com/ has the full range of colors.

Ron I really like well-waxed Jasper for Stewart's black spiders. Have you tried it?

My "starting" threads:
  • Gold (Light Orange 6a)
  • Olive Green
  • Light Olive
  • Antique Gold
  • Primrose
  • Chestnut
At a minimum I would say gold, olive green and primrose as starting colours. I would add hot orange and scarlet next.

No I haven't tried the Jasper for Black Spiders. Something new to play with.

It's a cool color- it also looks great on a march brown.
