Saturday Morning

Saturday Morning
I finally got out on the water after a month of no fishing. Took an old buddy along (NuB). We started fishing at sunup. The action was fantastic until 10:00 AM, then the switch was turned off. After that, all we could manage were dinky little Browns in the 3 to 8 inch range. Before 10:00? Wow! Lots of nice sized Browns and Bows. Average size fish was 18 inches, and I managed close to 15 of them. Mostly Browns, with three or four Bows mixed in.
My buddy Mike with his only catch of the day. He needed time on the water. He is going through an ugly divorce and needed time for himself.
There were Tricos everywhere. I tyed on a size 14 Muskrat Flymph, and a size 20 Baetis emerger. The fish took both patterns equally.

Re: Saturday Morning
Great set of photos, nice looking flies, fine looking trout (at least in the early stages of the day ) and apart from the rubber net bag- that even looks like a Kiwi net.
Fine day enjoyed by friends. Your buddy probably had the best day he had in a wee while, you Sir are a great friend by helping him enjoy the gift of fishing and the peace of mind it can help bring.

MM, that is a Kiwi net. My buddy brought it back from his trip to NZ, a few years ago. He gave me, and my son a net. It's the style with the built in scales. I replaced the original net bag with rubber two years ago. Great eye for detail sir!

We indeed had a great morning fishing. My buddy Mike and I had some side splitting laughs today.
Thanks for the kind comments you two!

DUBBN, Howdy;
A MONTH with no fishin' ....???????
Suprised 'The Na ' .....your wife didn't have to call a rescue squad
to haul your quaking convulsing body to the river and immerse
you slowley so the shock wouldn't cause more harm...
Great photo travelouge once again...

Re: Saturday Morning
Hank, the rivers are cooling off nicely. The rivers were never officially shut down due to warm water temps, but I didnt need to fish so badly that I would possibly stress them more than need be.
I am looking forward to a great Fall of fly fishing!
Thanks all for the kind remarks.
