Three nondescript
Black & Grey
Black & Brown
Local Poultry
Just some recent ties to fall from my vice. Not tidy nor neat, but just some variations of fishing flies.
A lot of the places I go to work keep poultry of some kind, I often pick up feathers from around the yards, doing so the other day led to these three being tied.

Jeff - those are incredibly "fishy" looking flies (sincere compliment). I would fish those with confidence. Inspiring...

Re: Three nondescript
You've got some great local poultry to select from. These are all nice hackles, but that third one just looks like it's alive. Beautifully put together patterns. I like the fuzzy tag on the first fly. All the marking and contrast there should be really effective. The robust stonefly profile of the second fly is spot on and like I said...that third fly is just flymphy as hell. Cool set. Thanks for putting these up.

Re: Three nondescript
Thanks guys.
The first one was a real faied effort that just got wrapped out of frustration. It was never intended to have that dubbing at the tag, nor the thread just wrapped helter skelter. I started with the idea of three strands of silk, 2 black and one grey, was going to lightly dub the grey and then plait the three, wrapping the body from the resulting rope.
Well it all went to hell. A bit of dubbing was caught in at the base so I left it there and just grabbed up the three silks and wrapped them. Not local hackle either, French Partridge.
The second used rooster tail barbs for a body, just shank wrapped and wire rib. Was a neat tail feather, very Starling like in colour.
The third used those same feather barbs in the tail and grey silk/ possum belly into a grizzly hen hackle.

Love all 3, but I'm partial to number 2.

From Dictionary.com:
Nondescript - of no recognized, definite, or particular type or kind: a nondescript color.
Also sounds like the ultimate match the hatch to me. I like all 3 of these.

Fantastic job. I am partial to the third but love the tag on the first. Thanks for inspiring.
