Pearsall's Silk Adapter

Here is a little do-it-yourself project for anyone that wants to use Pearsall's Silk Spools on a full size bobbin.



Materials:
Empty thread spool
Wooden Dowel (5/16" Diameter X 15/16" Long)

Tools:
Hacksaw
Sandpaper
Cordless Drill

This was simple meant as a proof of concept, to see if it works. I'm happy to say it worked well in its first test. It only took a few minutes to make.

I wish I knew someone in the plastic injection molding business. I think this could be a nice product. Heck, if they were cheap enough, you could buy a few and keep your favorite spools of silk in the larger bobbin. It would be nice if the larger ends screwed together to hold the silk spool in place.

Has anybody used the YLI silk thread? Here's one source:

It comes in many, many colors and comes on a standard spool and is a lot less expensive than Pearsall's. I know it isn't the traditional silk thread company, but.....
