Thanks Ashley! I appreciate the description, but I have a feeling my wife will not be happy when I raid her spice cabinet. :D (nothing surprises her any more in terms of my fly tying hobby. She already thinks I am crazy. This will just be further proof. he he he :D )

I would go for it when shes not looking, though she may start asking questions when the curry she smelt doesn't appear.

Really digging this fly, thanks for sharing with us. :D

This reminds me I "need"(yea right, like I need to) get into dyeing my own materials.

Ashley thank you, not only a good looking pattern but the handy hints on the dying. I tried some small batch Mallard drake breast feather dying and the Tumeric worked a treat.
Owing to only doing a dozen feathers at a time with various concoctions I did not boil on the stove top, but nuked a small amount of the dye/ feather mix in the microwave.
About half a cup of liquid and a couple of 40 second bursts seemed to make a nice yellow duck breast feather. :D

I found another quick and easy way to dye feathers and I wrote the instructions here http://shoestringflyfisher.blogspot.co.uk/
The instructions are for using Kool-aid but it does work with other dyes including turmeric.

ashley, Howdy;

That's a nice Blog you have going on. I've enjoyed reading some of what you have posted there.
The Summer of '71 I was fortunate enough to have visited The Salisbury Plain and Stonehenge.
Beautiful countryside there.
You should add your blog's link to your signature line.....
Thanks for shareing.

Quick update, I took a couple of fish on this fly during a lull in the E.Dancia hatch recently. So it definitely works.
