I always enjoy your photos and flies. Did you dye the hen hackle or purchase it?

That's a bought item from Hareline Dubbin. I've never actually tried dying my own (yet). I did bring it up once over dinner, but my wife said I would probably hurt myself. :D

Damn, that is a pretty pattern! I'm tempted to make this my computer background screen. Great photo, Roger.

PS - I now "NEED" one of these crawfish orange dyed hens.

PPS - My will power has failed me again. I just ordered one of the crayfish orange hen backs from Jim Slattery. I can't wait to try it. :D

   Funny Mark. When I saw that it was only $4 on Jim's site, I just had him add it to my existing order. I bought some of his other Indian hen necks, which should be fun to play with. Indian hen is way cheaper than most other necks/capes. Just makes it harder to resist a good deal. :D

That is just so buggy, C.C. I'm not sure why, but it really hollers "caddis" to me. You and DUBBN are truly talented when it comes to turning out natural fishing flies.

I've had the pleasure of seeing a number of CC's flies tied with the dyed hen and they are even nicer in person. They are just the thing you want you box loaded with. Thanks CC. I have held out on ordering any material until after I can get to putting my tying armoire together/organized. I might have to order a few before they are gone. Great post. Cool pic. Nice fly.
