Finally Floating!

Post by DUBBN » Fri Feb 10, 2012 3:52 pm

Week is over, truck is washed, and I can start the weekend. Been over two months since my buddy Bob and I floated the rivers. Thats about to end tomorrow! I have my gear, warm clothes (extra), and safety items packed. Time to start fishnNfloatn again!!!
I will throw in a thermos of coffee, and a thermos of hot water for Ramen Noodles. I cant wait!!! I know I am gonna forget something.

I plan on throwing Little Winter Stones, and Two Toned SH's. I am going to put them through their paces. Odds are I will be fishing the Roaring Fork river above Glenwood Springs Colorado. I know I'm forgetting something.....

Kitchen Sink? I call it floating in confort. Cloud Nine if you want specifics.
Seriously... I can have my raft inflated, and loaded and be on the water in less than 20 minutes from the time I put my truck in park. Plus, all that gear will fit in a mid size cars trunk. Except, the two piece, double rod tube. I gotta get with the times and buy 4 piece rods.

I can't wait to hear (and see) how it went. Because of licensing issues related to my recent move, I won't be able to fish until May, so I am having to live vicariously for now. :)

Wayne, I can sense the excitement. Have a great trip and take plenty of pics.

I did not get alot of pictures, but my word did we get into the fish. Largest was a big old male Rainbow that went 4.75 lbs. He was 23 inches long. We caught alot of cooky cutter Browns aswell, Most went 12 to 14 inches.
The picture of me holding the Hen Rainbow? She is 24 inches long, but only weighed 3lbs. Kinda skinny.

The SH Stones worked very well today, and accounted for the majority of fish caught. The little no name didnt catch many, but three of the four biggest fish fell to it.

It was great to be back on the water again. Floating that is!

Me too. My jaws are sore from all the grinning and laughing I did. I was reminded a few days ago that I had become a grumpy old man. I am pretty certain, this tamed my disposition quite a bit. Time in my raft is like an elixir to me. Maybe like snake oil. Theres no proof that it cures a dang thing, but oh, do I feel better for a few days after.
