That's a special one RK. Thanks for sharing.
I hate it when I think I'm buying organic vegetables, and when I get home I discover they are just regular donuts.

i'm so glad to see the thread still movin' along.........fantastic flies by all........again. Really nice tyes. i'm sorry i don't have enough strength to address each one individually........but i love 'em all. i've always been a huge fan of the Church Window feathers. You all are some creative dudes. The best set of gangsters i know.
Here's a little fly i tyed a week or more ago..........one of the last i've tyed.........have no idea when i'll tye again. Basically i was just playin' around with an idea or two..........it's nothin' special at all. Just figured i might as well post it since Misa took a nice pic.
the body is Seal...........
Donald, more like "Peck's Bad Boy"
good on ya Martin........
Old Hat and Roadkill.........GREAT flies

Love it! It kind of reminds me of a Fore-and-Aft version of a Tan Flymph. The keel hook gives the fly a lot of implied motion. Very cool.

Tkx. Ray, it was stupid of me not to add a bit of dubbing behind the bead..........would of been much better that way.

Mark - I respectfully disagree. Adding the dubbing behind the collar would have been the "expected" thing to do. Not adding it, in my opinion was the "creative" choice here. It works for me, just the way it is.

Tkx. guys for the communications...........still haven't tyed in bout a week or so............very depressing.............i'm gonna have to force myself to try and sit at the vise long enough to get one finished. These Hyrocodon(sp?) pills work pretty well.........it's a narcotic, and helps a lot with the pain.........but also makes you a bit out of it. i'm just hopin' the cocktails (chemo) will begin to help quick. But i got a feelin' they are not goin' to be a very fun experience AT ALL.
It's horrible to even look in my tyin' room............enough hooks and materials to tye a gazillion flies.......and no strength to do it............... ..............anyway..............
and hank, your a fly tyer, just like all the rest of us. You just need to get yourself in an enviornment where you can get yourself some personal one on one help..........i mean something MORE that just videos and books. Videos and books are fantastic, but nothing beats actual hands on teaching. Visually watching the steps being done repetitively, to where you can ask immediate questions and get immediate answers, then instantly put it into action, so it's reinforced. Living isolated is not very conducive in assisting with the learning curve.....ie: speeding up the process. Ya need a fly shop and a tyin' club. The BEST place you could be (imho) is Roscoe, N.Y. Maybe the Roscoe Camp Ground or even better, Butternut Grove Campground where Bernie & Jackie (the owners), are the BEST! There are scads of local fly shops......the Catskill Fly Tyers Guild, and tyers everywhere. You could learn more in 6 months living there, then you might in 10 years living elsewhere. You'd have access to all the books in the Museum at the CFFC&M.........and on and on and on and on and on..................annual membership gets you in to the museum 365, minus the closed days in the winter time.....think about it.
