Love the fly Mark, not sure about the overall colour scheme, it clashes with my manly, burly, blokey side, if you get what I mean. ;)
All jokes aside it's a cracker, that means 'great' in aussie speak, unless you're referring to the edible type, which I ain’t. :D I worry about myself when I type answers off the cuff, concerning :? , I hope you can forgive me...
For some reason it reminds me of a larva lamp I used to own (which I was quite fond of), might have something to do with the bead. :) Thanks for sharing mate.

I know you are referring to the hook as nothing special, but to me it's stunning. Coming from a guy that's never tied on any big salmon irons, I love these hooks. The biggest irons I own are saltwater 2/0's, I think I may have to get myself some of these hooks in the near future, they're just too cool. I might need some advice with the choosing and just happen to know someone that might be able to help. ;)

Mark - Is the tail Indian Crow? My oh, my...you have some collection... I saw a nice substitute for this over at John McLain's site (http://www.feathersmc.com/products/Indi ... stitute%20).

Recipe is on page 95.....minus one thing i left out over there. The throat (Spey hackle) is dyed Chartreuse Rhea. That tail is two Amhearst Pheasant rump feathers. ;) .....i've bought Indian Crow sub. feathers from John before, and still have most all of it.....very nice stuff.

Mark - I am pasting the recipe here so I can read it while looking at the picture. I am really surprised by the tail. I was convinced that these were Indian Crow feathers. I'll have to remember this in the future. I love the dubbing blend you created. It is beautiful.

As I was studying the fly and pattern, I noticed that there is no bead this time. Does the omission of the bead have significance? Sorry if you have already answered this. I am a bit behind on the posts, due the the holiday preparations. There is only so much time I have this week.

thread: Danvill 6/0 Primrose
tag: Uni Gold Braid
tail: two Amhearst rump feathers clumped
body: three different sections of SLF hand blended/differebt mixed colors per section, from a Prism H box & a Prism I box
ribbing: Lagartun French Flat Cold Braid normal direction & UTC Med. Holographic Brown tinsel counter-wraped over the gold
wing: fibers from the dark side of Argus tail feathers over fibers from the lite side of the tail feathers
collar: two found feathers (light & dark) wraped........
head: dyed orange & brown
eye: Partridge gut dyed yellow over florescent yellow

One of my MOST favorite things in all of fly tying is "Mixing" dubbings.....the colors themselves, different dubbings by brand or materials, natural and sythetic together or seperately............whatever......just mix & match................becuase the possibilities are endless. Course, for me, it's just paint.......so. i'm only thinkin' (when doin' flies of this nature meaning: will probably never be fished with), beauty.......color........affect........effect........"Knock-it OUT!"
The no bead thing is just something that happens on occassion.........i simply don't always use a bead is all......... ;) i have a few thousand blind eye hooks (both ordinary & special), already matched to a bead..........then i have more blind eye hooks, some ordinary, some special.......the ordinaries are used for swaping, giving away, sharing with friends, & teaching.....the special ones, are often dressed without a bead. To a large degree i've stoped buying beads at this point.....because i may not live long enough to use what i already have.....so. ;) Dang, i just remembered.....i gotta put together a package for Kars. :D
