Ray, Howdy;
Your SBS is great ... just have a question ...
How does the tying thread get from (see Blue type);
3) Wind the thread 1/3rd of the distance back towards the bend of the hook, then wind it forward to the tye in point. (This will build up two layers of silk thread under the front 1/3rd of the body which will later help form the taper of the body).
to (see green type);
4) Tye in three or four strands of pheasant tail fibers. (The length of the tail is measured to be equal to the full length of the hook. The tail extends from the end of the straight part of the hook shank.) Wrap the silk from the tye in point, back to the bend of the hook and forward to the tye in point. Leave the butt ends of the pheasant tail fibers hanging out over the eye of the hook. They are folded over the back of the fly in a later step.
I know ya wraped it back to the tye-in point ..... but ??? in touchin' turns or quick an few turns.
Just figured I'd bust yer chops a wee bit.

Hank - I use closely touching turns for steps three and four. In step six, I use open wraps to form the body segmentation. I have gone back and modified the tying instructions in hopes that it is a bit clearer.

Kelly - It took me a little digging, but I managed to find the link containing the recipe for Hans' fly. I swore the recipe was on the toe-tag of Hans' swap fly. Unfortunately, after searching thru all my old sets, and finding the actual fly, the toe tag did not have the recipe.
EXCERPT TAKEN FROM HANS ORIGINAL POST:
Flame
Hook: Sprite Perfect International #14
Thread: Benecchi 12/0, black
Hackle: Pine squirrel guard hair, dyed cinnamon
Rib: Holographic tinsel, violet, corded
Abdomen: Mink underfur, light tan
Thorax: Pine squirrel underfur, dyed cinnamon
Anyway, here is a direct link to the fly and recipe Hans posted in the IBF Swap No. 11:
