Misa took bout 20 pics.....prolly 19 of them came out better, but this one just happened to be the one that didn't expose what a crappy head this fly has. i'm goin' to have to see what i can do bout it later.....
The butt is a silver bead.....and the fly has been tipped back (in the cork), quite a bit, to expose the body for the pic. .....click the pic.....

I have just the opposite problem...it takes me a dozen shots to get one good one.

VERY pretty fly. It has a nice frosty/wintery vibe to it. If I had to describe it in a single word, I choose "Crisp!"

That reminds me, earlier today I was listening to my all-time favorite Christmas music. The original sound track to "A Charlie Brown Christmas" by the Vince Guaraldi Trio (circa 1965). I was listening to this music and realized that it was jazz, and it made me think of you.

Definatey one of the hippest recordings of all time. Thankx for the comments bout the fly. Something that drives me nuts, is wasting materials.....and you'd think that i'd never even think about that with the stash i have...........but i do. Why i mention it is because, very often i find i have feathers that are not perfect...........but useable...........such were most of the feathers in this fly dressing. Actually none of them were in perfect shape, at all. HELL, i am not in perfect shape by a LLOONNGG shot for that matter....... .....but, THAT is the point to a VERY large degree with why i tye the flies i do.
People are not perfect, materials are not perfect (although they can be.....pretty much, if you have the $$$$$), your technical abilities are not perfect, etc., etc., etc.............but the whole idea, is to transcend all of that, and come out on the other end, with a body of work that stands the test of time. THAT, is what the music is all about..........compostionally, in performance (recordings, especially live)....."That" and the end result that your body of work can have on others. The healing force that is within the music, "Should" be the same healing force that is within the flies. Bottom line......."the message" within.....is what leads to healing. Anybody can slap matrials on hooks........a chipanzee could be taught to do it i would imagine. If you can wind thread, and make a knot...........wass the big deal? Damn things might even catch fisn........prolly would catch fish.............fish be stupid

p.s. i find it impossible to believe that you tye 11 crappy flies before "YOUR" happy..... .....actually let me correct that, because you never said the first 11 were crappy......... But one outta 12.............COME ON............

I meant I take eleven crappy photos for each good one. This photography thing is like some sort of witch craft or magic. Just when I think I'm getting the hang of it, I have eleven more crappy photos that prove otherwise. The deciding factor for success seems to be persistence (for me at least).

just goes to show how much i even think bout the photography side of what we do here............course, "there's a reason for that." i'da posted a better shot of that fly.........but why waste a pic space. Sooner or later i'll have to deal with that again anyway i spose. But at least i gotta Pro pic taker sleepin' in my bed and she sure good at keepin' me warm too.

OK, get ready for this next one i just finished.........i'm naming it after a GREAT tune by the late tenor saxophonist and composer, Hank Mobley.
"No Room For Squares" .....again, Blue Note Records. Hank was a Monster tenor player and wrote KILLER tunes.
This fly was litterally a bitch to do, but not as much in terms of difficulty with the actual tyin', as much as just thinkin' it through. Of course, once it's finished i can see things i might of done differently......but that's exactly what it's like in the studio, after a "take" is finished and the clock is running, and it's time to get to the next tune.........VERY often you think or someone says, "we'll get back to it".......which, hardly ever happens.

Mark ~Is that a guinea hen collar? Don't know about you, but I've always found guinea hen hard to work with. Regardless, this B & W Stremph is a real winner. Wonder what this would look like if the photo were actually taken in black & white?
