Fall Fun!

Post by DUBBN » Sat Sep 24, 2011 8:54 pm

Had a blast on the Roaring Fork. The day started out slow (7:30 AM). Managed a fish here and there until about 2:00 PM. Then the fishing turned on. Up until then I caught maybe 3 fish. One was a reall pretty CutBow.

After 2:00 the Muskrat size 14 and the PT Soft Hackle size 18 kicked in gear.
I caught quite a few Bows in the 12 to 14 inch range.

They are alot of fun, but the past month has been about numbers of smaller fish, and I was really trying (Hoping) for larger ones.
I hooked 4 Bows in the 19 to 22 inch range and landed 2. They are very fat and have some serious shoulders. Here is a pic of the 19 incher. I am guessing him at weighing maybe 3lbs. I have scales in my net and forgot to weigh any of the fish. :(

Image My buddy took the pic of a 23 incher that I caught. I will post it tomorrow if he sends it to me.

Had a GREAT day.

"Whatcha doin......"

"Fly fishing"

"Hahaha I fish for fish not flies....they're easier to get on the hook (hysterical laughter)"

This has been the typical trout for the last month.

Nice post, Wayne. Wish I could join you on these jaunts!

I do too!!!

I had my shot to fish with Misa and Mark, but my work schedule interfered with real life. There are many people on this forum that I would love to share my little corner of the world with.

Just a side note. This is the latest in the year that I can remember witout seeing the October Caddis. This is my favorite hatch as the trout attack the flys violently. Hope I see some before Winter sets in.

As a brook trout fanatic back East, three-quarters of my fly box is "orange." :) Any chance you might provide the recipe for that last one?
